Barwon Coast is looking for a Building Maintenance Officer, this position plays an important role at Barwon Coast in delivering repairs, updates and new builds to infrastructure at our Caravan parks and coastal reserves. Who we are: Barwon Coast cares for 22km of coastline on the southern Bellarine Peninsula and to fund that work, operates 3 caravan parks and a seasonal campground in Ocean Grove, Barwon Heads and Breamlea. About the Role The Building Maintenance Officer is responsible for delivering a broad range of maintenance, repair and asset improvement works across Barwon Coast managed facilities, caravan parks and coastal reserves. The role plays a key part in maintaining safe, functional and well-presented public assets while supporting high levels of customer service and operational efficiency. Key responsibilities include: Undertaking general building maintenance, scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance works across accommodation facilities, public buildings, amenity blocks and associated infrastructure. This may include carpentry, door installation and repairs, plasterboard installation, ceiling repairs, flooring repairs and general building rectification works. Carrying out repairs and maintenance to open space and coastal assets including beach access staircases, viewing platforms, balustrades, park furniture, shelters and other public infrastructure. Assisting with the planning, development and delivery of seasonal maintenance and asset renewal programs to ensure Barwon Coast facilities remain safe, compliant and presented to a high standard. Ensuring all plant, tools and equipment are regularly inspected, maintained in safe working order, cleaned after use and securely stored in accordance with workplace procedures. Maintaining the safe handling, use and storage of materials, consumables, chemicals and equipment in line with occupational health and safety requirements. Contributing to the continuous improvement of Barwon Coast assets and operations by identifying maintenance improvements, efficiencies and opportunities to enhance asset presentation and functionality. Responding to customer maintenance requests and operational issues in a timely and professional manner, ensuring urgent maintenance matters and serious customer concerns are escalated promptly to the Supervisor. Working collaboratively with internal teams, contractors and stakeholders to support the effective delivery of maintenance and operational services across Barwon Coast managed sites. What We're Looking For The ideal candidate will have: A background working in a carpentry trade or equivalent experience. “Hands on” practical building maintenance skills. Ability to operate plant and building maintenance tools safely (including Hand and power tools). Knowledge of relevant building, current building regulations and legislation Competence in the use of equipment, reading and interpreting plans, specifications and contract documents is desirable Excellent organisational and time management skills Ready to make a difference at Barwon Coast?
