In this foundational platform engineering position, you will be instrumental in architecting the core services, security guardrails, and automated frameworks necessary for teams to leverage Microsoft Azure securely and effectively. Beyond architecting a highly scalable and robust cloud ecosystem from the ground up, you will bridge the gap with our existing hybrid infrastructure. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING Architect and deploy structured Azure environments, incorporating robust subscription management, hierarchical layouts, and governance frameworks aligned with top-tier Cloud Adoption Frameworks. Engineer and sustain reusable Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) templates, ideally utilising Bicep to build out efficient, repeatable deployment modules. Programmatically enforce strict compliance, security protocols, and operational baselines through advanced policy-as-code initiatives. Administer comprehensive identity solutions via Entra ID, meticulously managing role-based access controls (RBAC), conditional access parameters, and elevated privilege systems. Construct and orchestrate seamless CI/CD workflows leveraging GitHub Actions to guarantee consistent, automated release cycles. Formulate complex network integration topologies, encompassing hub-and-spoke models, private endpoint configurations, and secure SaaS linkages. Bolster event-driven architectures and integration capabilities, ensuring the smooth operation of messaging services and API gateways. Act as a technical subject matter expert, providing hands-on operational troubleshooting and strategic guidance across both the newly minted cloud platform and legacy hybrid systems. MORE ABOUT YOU A proven track record of constructing, running, and scaling enterprise-grade Azure cloud platforms and landing zones. Exceptional proficiency in Infrastructure-as-Code methodologies (with a strong preference for Bicep) paired with a relentless drive for automation. Demonstrated ability to roll out robust Azure Policy frameworks and a deep, practical understanding of Azure Access Management and Identity solutions (Entra ID). Practical expertise in configuring complex, secure Azure networks and a solid background in crafting continuous integration pipelines via GitHub Actions. The capability to architect scalable platform frameworks that empower broader development teams through secure, self-service consumption models. Prior exposure to operating within hybrid landscapes transitioning to the cloud, complemented by an understanding of hybrid identity synchronisation between local data centres and Azure. Strong, practical experience supporting and troubleshooting critical on-premises workloads running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). Exceptional troubleshooting skills spanning across physical infrastructure, network layers, and virtual cloud environments.
