Senior Operations Manager - Transport & Escort We’re seeking an experienced Senior Operations Manager to lead national Transport & Escort (T&E) operations within Australia’s immigration detention network. This is a critical leadership role responsible for ensuring the safe, dignified, and compliant movement of people in detention while driving operational excellence across multiple sites. Reporting directly to the National Manager, Transport & Escort, you will shape the strategic direction of T&E services, uplift capability, and lead national improvement initiatives that enhance safety, consistency and performance. Key Responsibilities Lead national T&E operations, ensuring safe, respectful, and compliant service delivery across all sites. Strengthen quality assurance, safety, and contractual compliance through proactive risk management and operational processes. Drive operational efficiency by standardising procedures, improving decision‑making, and removing bottlenecks across sites. Improve financial performance through accurate billing, reconciliation, and disciplined operational controls. Implement technology and process improvements that enhance productivity, accuracy, and national consistency. Build leadership capability across the network through coaching, support, and strong stakeholder engagement. Oversee national QA programs, audits, and remediation strategies to reduce performance failures. Support strategic planning, future growth, and readiness for new contracts and increased demand. This is a hands-on leadership role. You’ll spend time with teams, understand their challenges, and help them deliver services ensure safety and dignity remain at the core of every journey. To be successful: Cert IV qualifications in Management, Immigration Detention, Security Operations or equivalent Extensive experience leading multi-site operations in a high-demand, high-risk environment. Strong background in compliance, safety, quality assurance and risk management. Proven ability to stabilise operations, embed consistent processes and deliver national improvement initiatives. Commercial and financial acumen, with experience improving cost control and operational efficiency. Experience leading technology or process improvement projects across dispersed teams. Strong people leadership skills with the ability to coach, develop and uplift frontline leaders. Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
