About the Position: The Structural Civil Engineer (Residential) plays a pivotal role at Z Design n Build Pty Ltd by designing and overseeing the structural integrity of residential projects, including new homes, granny flats, and duplexes. This full-time position involves translating architectural concepts into safe, buildable structural solutions while ensuring compliance with Australian standards and local regulations. The role is essential to the company’s success, bridging design and construction phases to deliver durable, cost-effective projects that meet client expectations and regulatory requirements in Sydney’s competitive residential market. Key Responsibilities: Analyse structural systems for static and dynamic loads and design safe, efficient frameworks for residential buildings, granny flats, and duplexes using principles of structural engineering. Prepare and review detailed structural drawings, specifications, and calculations, ensuring alignment with architectural plans, Australian Standards, and the National Construction Code. Conduct site assessments and inspections to evaluate soil conditions, foundations, and existing structures for renovations or new builds. Collaborate with architects, builders, project managers, and clients to resolve design issues, respond to Requests for Information (RFIs), and provide technical guidance during construction. Select appropriate materials and construction methods while considering cost, durability, sustainability, and site-specific conditions. Monitor construction progress to verify compliance with approved designs, issue revised drawings as needed, and ensure structural safety and quality standards are maintained.
