As we continue to grow, we're looking for a talented and detail-oriented Designer/Production Assistant to join our close-knit team. The Role Working directly alongside our experienced Production Manager, you will play a key role in the design and preparation of staircases from concept through to production-ready documentation. This is a hands-on, technical role that sits at the intersection of design, engineering, and manufacturing — ideal for someone who loves seeing their drawings become real, tangible structures. This is a full-time, permanent position. Key Responsibilities Produce detailed staircase drawings and production documentation using DraftSight (CAD) and StairCon software Collaborate with the Production Manager to translate client briefs and architectural plans into accurate, buildable designs Prepare and manage production files, cut lists, and component specifications Review and interpret building plans, ensuring designs comply with Australian building standards and NCC requirements Liaise with the production team to resolve design queries and ensure accuracy on the shop floor Assist in quoting and material take-offs where required Maintain organised and up-to-date design documentation and project files About You Experience with DraftSight , AutoCAD , or similar CAD software is essential Experience with StairCon is highly regarded — or a strong willingness and ability to learn it quickly Background in staircase design, joinery, carpentry, or architectural drafting is a strong advantage Solid understanding of construction drawings, building plans, and technical documentation Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to work Strong communication skills — you'll be the link between design intent and the production floor Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a production environment Trade background or relevant qualification in drafting, design, or construction is advantageous What We Offer Full-time, stable employment with a respected and growing company Hands-on, varied work in a specialist trade environment Supportive team culture with direct mentoring from an experienced Production Manager Opportunity to build deep expertise in staircase design and manufacture Competitive remuneration based on experience
