Civil Site Inspector- (FIFO) At Black & More, we employ the right people and shape careers around their strengths and ambitions. We’re expanding our project delivery team based in Cairns and seeking an experienced Site Inspector to support our works across the Cape York Peninsula (Lockhart River). The Role As part of our civil works delivery/program team, you will play a key role in on-site inspections and reporting for an upcoming civil infrastructure project. The position is a Temp/Casual position until December 2026. The position is based in Cairns, with travel to Lockhart River required. It is anticipated to be a 2-3 week on, 1 week off roster. The actual roster will be timed to align with the contractor’s work program. Accommodation, car hire, travel costs and a laptop will be provided As a civil site inspector, you will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day construction on site, working alongside the contractor, maintaining detailed site records and working under the direction of B&M’s principal Civil Engineer and collaborating with the project delivery manager to resolve and address any issues. The role ensures work is completed safely, efficiently, on schedule and in accordance with project specifications, quality standards and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities Supervise daily site operations. Monitor contractors, subcontractors, plant operators, and labour crews to ensure productivity and compliance. Conduct site inspections and quality checks to maintain construction standards. Report on works completed. Liaise with the Project Delivery Manager, Principal Civil Engineer, Contractor and the local authorities. Maintain site records, including daily reports, safety documentation and progress updates. ITP sign-offs and inspection verification. Requirements Solid knowledge of Civil Construction with a preference for stabilisation experience. Relevant technical accreditation in civil or structural construction Strong, relevant project management experience Strong working knowledge of relevant legislation, codes and regulations Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Strong communication, time management, and reporting skills Comfortable travelling to remote locations Manual Driver’s Licence and Construction White Card Strong safety mindset and practical problem-solving ability Previous experience working in remote or regional Queensland is highly regarded.
