The Client Wide Bay Motors based in Pialba in QLD is looking to employ a full-time trade qualified and experienced Automotive Technician to join their workshop. The Role The annual salary is set at $76,515 depending on experience plus superannuation. The role is based in Pialba in QLD. The Responsibilities Some tasks may include: Diagnose mechanical, electrical and electronic faults in light vehicles using scan tools, fault codes, live data, wiring diagrams and manufacturer repair procedures Inspect, service and repair engines, transmissions, braking systems, steering systems, suspension, cooling systems, fuel systems, exhaust systems and driveline components Carry out scheduled servicing, oil and fluid changes, filter replacement, spark plug replacement, belt and hose checks, battery testing and safety inspections Test and replace faulty components including alternators, starter motors, sensors, ignition coils, fuel injectors, pumps, control modules, brake components and suspension parts Perform diagnostic testing for warning lights, poor engine performance, overheating, abnormal noise, vibration, misfire, hard starting and drivability concerns Use workshop equipment including hoists, diagnostic scanners, multimeters, battery testers, pressure gauges, brake equipment and specialist automotive tools Conduct road tests before and after repairs to confirm faults, assess vehicle performance and verify that repairs have been completed properly Interpret service manuals, technical bulletins, wiring diagrams and manufacturer specifications to complete repairs safely and accurately Maintain accurate job cards, diagnostic notes, repair records, parts usage, service recommendations and inspection findings Follow workplace health and safety procedures when operating hoists, handling vehicles, using tools, managing oils and chemicals, and maintaining a clean workshop environment The Requirements: Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis At least 2 years of relevant experience in a commercial workshop setting Must have at least 2 years' experience working with Intercontinental, European and Asian car makes Must have at least 2 years experience with EV and Hybrid vehicles At least 2 years' experience diagnosing engine management, fuel injection, ignition, cooling, braking, steering and suspension faults Minimum 2 years' experience in electrical fault testing, including voltage drop, resistance, continuity, relay, fuse, sensor signal and CAN bus diagnostics At least 2 years' experience working with hybrid and EV systems, including 12V checks, HV isolation, inverter cooling, battery management, interlock, contactor and pre charge diagnosis Experience working with mechanical systems Must know how to operate diagnostic equipment Experience working with mechanical systems Good with hand and power tools The ability to work independently and as part of a team Able to pass a drug and alcohol test Verifiable work references
