This is a Director Financial Accounting & Operations Group role with Queensland Corrective Services based in Brisbane, QLD, AU Queensland Corrective Services Role Seniority - director More about the Director Financial Accounting & Operations Group role at Queensland Corrective Services In this role you will be responsible for leading the Financial Accounting and Operations Group. It will oversee financial and accounting operations, statutory and financial reporting, taxation, transactional services, and asset management functions. It will provide timely, independent and informed strategic and operational financial advice and analysis to ensure the current and long term financial sustainability of QCS. The role will ensure that QCS financial accounting policies, procedures, and operations are aligned to contemporary best practice, QCS strategic objectives, legislative requirements, and accounting principles and standards. A key focus of the role is to re-shape the service delivery approach of the Financial Accounting and Operations Group to be contemporary, client focused, and centre led. The primary accountabilities of the Director, Financial Accounting and Operations include: Provide strategic leadership and direction to the Financial Accounting and Operations Group, ensuring operational excellence in the delivery of timely and effective financial operations and advice to support QCS's operations. Lead the design, implementation and maintenance of contemporary and best practice financial policies, procedures and controls that are aligned to QCS and whole of Government objectives, and which enable QCS to effectively discharge its statutory obligations under the Financial Accountability Act 2007. Oversee effective financial systems, accounting data quality and accessibility to ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial analysis and reporting to enable effective monitoring of QCS financial performance and informed decision making Lead the preparation of QCS governance reports, annual financial statements, and other adhoc requests, ensuring compliance with statutory reporting requirements and prescribed accounting standards and policies. Direct all financial accounting, operational, taxation, and asset accounting activities to ensure sound financial practice and protection of QCS's resources, asset portfolio, and financial position. Ensure robust and contemporary asset accounting processes to facilitate effective tracking, analysis, reporting and management of QCS's $5b worth of assets. Ensure the development and implementation of effective and robust financial risk and compliance management, assurance, and governance frameworks and processes to mitigate financial risks and protect QCS financial position. Provide governance over the Prisoner Trust Account System (PTAS) to ensure efficient, effective and compliant operations within correctional facilities, encompassing prisoner trust accounts, canteen inventory management and system security. Lead the development of a strong client service focus by establishing collaborative partnerships with departmental clients and stakeholders in the delivery of financial services. Negotiate and ensure the ongoing management of service level agreements with external agencies to achieve optimal delivery of outsourced services including transactional, banking and travel services. Build financial capability within the Financial Accounting and Operations Group and across the organisation to meet the organisation's current and longer term financial operational and reporting requirements. Provide expert and trusted strategic and operational financial advice to the Assistant Commissioner Finance and Procurement Command, Deputy Commissioner Organisational Capability and other Executives to ensure effective utilisation of QCS's financial, human, and physical resources. Develop strategic relationships and engage with key stakeholders internally and externally including representing QCS in a range of forums/committees to advance QCS's financial interest. Lead and direct the effective use and management of the Group's human and financial resources to deliver services in an efficient and commercially sustainable manner.
