About the role Reporting to the Group Accounting Manager, BMD Group is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to join its Corporate Finance team. In this role, you will support the broader finance function to ensure the integrity, accuracy, and compliance of the Group’s financial reporting. In this role, you will take ownership of complex accounting matters, as well as the month-end and year-end close processes, statutory reporting, and the application of Australian Accounting Standards. Key responsibilities Ownership of month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with Australian Accounting Standards (AASB) Preparation and technical review of statutory financial statements, including disclosures Research, interpretation, and implementation of new and revised accounting standards, including preparation of technical accounting position papers Lead the external audit process in conjunction with the Group Accounting Manager, including resolution of technical queries and audit findings Lead and support budgeting processes Preparation and review of monthly statutory accounts, cash flow statements, and board/Audit & Risk Committee papers Maintenance and oversight of the general ledger, including review of reconciliations and controls Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes, systems, and internal controls Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior team members and the broader finance team Research, interpretation, and implementation of new and revised accounting standards, including preparation of technical accounting position papers Other accounting and finance related tasks as required About you CA/CPA qualified (essential) 5 years’ experience in financial accounting and reporting roles, with demonstrated exposure to complex accounting matters Exposure to large corporate clients and experience with multi-entity / group reporting environments (highly desirable) Strong technical accounting knowledge (AASB) Statutory reporting and audit management experience Advanced Excel skills (financial modelling, reconciliations and scenario analysis) High attention to detail and professional judgement Effective verbal and written communication skills.
