Here’s a 'career-making' role for an experienced professional, who enjoys team building and managing all phases of a project, from design to installation. Based in Osborne Park, our client is a Western Australian-owned and operated multi-disciplinary engineering contractor, specialising in water infrastructure. They excel in electrical and controls design, switchboard manufacturing, control/SCADA systems, and electrical installations. They deliver innovative design and construction projects across Western Australia, including borefields, water and wastewater treatment plants, chemical dosing, tanks, and pipelines. They have built a solid reputation for delivering innovative design and construction projects, on behalf of an impressive network of clients. Due to consistent growth and newly awarded projects, they are looking to appoint a PRINCIPAL ELECTRICAL ENGINEER to join their team. In this challenging and rewarding role, you’ll be the technical authority for all matters relating to electrical, instrumentation, and control (EIC) systems within the company. This senior role drives the full project lifecycle : From concept and detailed design through to construction support and commissioning. Key Responsibilities of this varied and rewarding role include : o Supervise and mentor a team of electrical engineers and technicians, fostering professional development. o Undertake the role of Design Manager, reviewing design outputs for conformity to customer requirements, standards, time, and cost constraints. o Develop discipline-based growth plans and recruit team members in line with the plan. o Mentor, coach, and produce design guides and technical notes to allow team members to leverage expertise. o Share knowledge to continuously improve the efficiency and technical capability of the section. o Maintain office workflow activities for the Electrical Design Team. o Identify opportunities to improve project delivery, ensuring budgets and schedules are met. o Monitor definition, design, and tender document performance within agreed time and budget constraints, incorporating innovative technology and industry best practices. o Ensure all electrical designs and installations comply with Australian standards (e.g., AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 61439), Water Corporation guidelines, and relevant statutory regulations. o Review and ensure compliance with Australian and international engineering standards, as well as client design standards. o Comply with relevant legislation, regulatory requirements, corporate policy, and ethical standards. o Maintain a focus on continuous review and improvement of quality processes and best practice design. o Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies for electrical systems to ensure operational safety and reliability. o Ensure compliance with Work Health and Safety (WHS) regulations, including WorkSafe WA requirements. o Provide technical leadership to the electrical team to deliver high-quality designs and ensure client satisfaction. To really excel in this role, you’ll require : o A degree in electrical engineering or a related field from a recognized institution. A Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline is highly desirable. o Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status with Engineers Australia or eligibility to obtain it. o A minimum of 12 years of experience in electrical engineering, with at least 3 years in the water industry or a related infrastructure sector. o Knowledge of statutory requirements, regulations, and national standards associated with electrical design in the water industry. o Knowledge of Water Corporation’s Design and Construction Standards and Western Australia’s water management regulations. o Demonstrated ability to manage, develop and deploy people to enhance business capability. o Advanced communication, interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills. o The ability to build and maintain constructive internal and external working relationships to support delivery of identified business outcomes. o The experience to promote the values and behaviours that contribute to a constructive, high-performance culture.
