Lead From the Front With a Growing Local Team BM Welding & Maintenance Pty Ltd is looking for an experienced Boilermaker / Leading Hand to join our Townsville team with a work/life balanced work roster of 4 days a week. This role is ideal for someone who not only takes pride in high-quality fabrication and welding work, but can also confidently lead crews, run jobs on-site, communicate with clients, and keep projects moving safely and efficiently . We’re looking for a reliable leader who can think ahead, solve problems, and set the standard for workmanship and attitude on the job. About the Role As a Boilermaker / Leading Hand, reporting directly to the Project Manager you will play a key role in coordinating labour, managing workflow, ensuring safety compliance, and delivering quality outcomes for our clients across a variety of projects. Key Responsibilities Lead and supervise small crews on workshop and site-based projects Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications Fabricate, weld, assemble, and repair structural steel and components Coordinate daily job activities and ensure projects stay on schedule Liaise professionally with clients, supervisors, and team members Ensure all work is completed to a high standard and within deadlines Maintain strong safety practices and promote a positive workplace culture Assist with mentoring apprentices and younger tradesmen Identify and solve problems on-site with minimal supervision What We’re Looking For Trade qualified Boilermaker/Fabricator Proven industry experience in welding and fabrication Previous Leading Hand or supervisory experience preferred Strong ability to run jobs independently and manage crews Ability to read and interpret workshop drawings Experience with MIG and TIG welding across mild steel, stainless & aluminium Strong communication and organisational skills Reliable, motivated, and able to lead by example Commitment to safety and quality workmanship Current Driver’s Licence White Card required Forklift, EWP, Working at Heights & Confined Space tickets highly regarded What We Offer Competitive pay based on experience and capability Consistent local work with a respected Townsville company Opportunity to take ownership and grow within the business Supportive team environment with strong workplace culture Variety of workshop and site-based work Overtime opportunities available 4 Day work week (Monday - Thursday) About Us BM Welding & Maintenance is a locally owned and operated business servicing Townsville and surrounding regions.
