The opportunity / The Role We are seeking Expressions of Interest from a passionate, values-driven individual to join our volunteer Committee of Management in the role of Treasurer. This is a rewarding volunteer opportunity to make a meaningful impact by strengthening financial governance and supporting better outcomes for people with disabilities. Essential Skills & Experience Financial literacy and experience in finance / accounting Competence using Xero, and Microsoft Outlook/Word/Excel/SharePoint/Teams Experience managing budgets, bank accounts, and financial reporting Ability to prepare and present clear financial reports to a committee or board Understanding of not-for-profit financial management principles, grant acquittals, donor reporting Hold a current National Police Check and NDIS worker check (or willingness to obtain) Governance & Compliance Knowledge Understanding of Australian charity governance obligations (ACNC reporting, financial accountability, ethical use of funds) Knowledge of basic tax obligations for charities, including GST, BAS and PAYG Awareness of NDIS funding principles, including: Appropriate handling of participant funds Separation of NDIS and nonNDIS income Financial transparency and safeguards Commitment to strong internal controls and risk management Organisational & Personal Attributes High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail Ability to work collaboratively with a volunteer committee and senior staff Strong communication skills, particularly explaining financial matters in plain language Reliable, methodical and able to meet reporting deadlines Commitment to the mission and values of a disabilityfocused organisation Role Responsibilities Oversee financial management, record keeping, and cashflow monitoring to support longterm sustainability Provide financial insight to inform strategic and operational decision making Review and strengthen financial procedures, controls, and reporting This is a governance/oversight role. Day-to-day bookkeeping and operational finance tasks are managed by bookkeeping-accounting contractor. Compliance / Eligibility / Time Commitment Hold a current National Police Check and NDIS worker check (or willingness to obtain) Meetings every month (up to 2 hours). In-person at Parkside (preferred) or via videoconference Ad hoc work hours (WFH) Desirable Previous experience as a treasurer or board member. Experience in the arts, disability, or community services sector and NDIS will be highly regarded.
