This is a Youth Worker - Youth Homelessness Service role with Anglicare Southern Queensland based in QLD, AU Anglicare Southern Queensland Role Seniority - junior More about the Youth Worker - Youth Homelessness Service role at Anglicare Southern Queensland Short Description Seeking compassionate Casual Youth Workers to provide holistic care & support across our Mt Gravatt, Underwood and Beenleigh services. About the role Our Homelessness Youth Services are focused on early intervention, crisis accommodation and support of long-term positive housing outcomes. In this role Youth Workers support young people who are experiencing homelessness or are at risk and includes those with high and complex needs. This is a casual role with no set hours and will be covering staff leave will work across our Mt Gravatt and Beenleigh services and accommodation settings. Flexible availability is essential due to the on-call nature of the role. The Beenleigh service is a 24/7 two worker model providing supervision and support at our Regents Park house. With an operating model of 3 shifts a day, including day, evening, overnight shifts. The Mt Gravatt service is a 2 shift and sleepover model. Both houses support up to 5 young people using a trauma informed, person centred approach. Responsibilities Provide holistic care for young people, addressing physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. Collaborate with stakeholders to meet individual needs and align with case plans. Manage challenging behaviours with respect and employ pro-social strategies. Engage youth in purposeful activities to develop life skills and self-worth. Assist in goal setting and support the development of healthy relationships. Maintain accurate documentation and comply with organizational policies. Liaise with external stakeholders, including government departments and support services. Contribute insights from direct care work to program planning. Support youth in transitions into or out of accommodation and services. Foster positive team relationships and contribute to continuous improvement. Qualifications, Credentials and Other Requirements: Minimum Cert IV or Diploma in Child, Youth & Family Intervention, Youth Work, Community Services, or similar field Current Blue Card (Working with Children) Current Queensland Driver Licence Current First Aid Certificate with CPR Ability to work shifts including days, nights (with sleepover component), weekends, and public holidays. About You Confident in your understanding of child behaviour and development, working from a trauma-informed framework. Able to observe and navigate the complex family dynamics often present for young people. Thoughtful and professional in response to crisis situations - working within risk and compliance guidelines. A team player who works in a collaborative manner but is capable of operating autonomously on a daily basis.
