Join our team at Austim as a Yard Staff Team Member ! We are seeking a motivated individual with a forklift licence to support the daily operations of our timber yard. This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday , with a total of 38 hours per week . Our working hours are as follows: Monday to Thursday: 7:30am – 4:00pm Friday: 7:30am – 1:30pm (with a rostered shift every 6 weeks from 1:30pm – 4:00pm) Base rate: $30.50 per hour Tool allowance: $14.50 fortnightly You’ll need to provide your own tape measure, safety boots, and wet weather gear. Key Responsibilities: Timely assembly of customer orders. Manual handling of materials, including timber packs and individual pieces. Maintain a clean and tidy yard. Safely operate plant and equipment such as forklifts, bandsaws, and radial arm dockers. Load trucks, couriers, and customer vehicles as required. Efficient stock handling, including wrapping and marking for orders. Provide exceptional customer service to yard visitors. Ensure accurate paperwork and housekeeping. Follow company policies and adhere to all OH&S procedures. Communicate equipment maintenance and safety issues promptly to your supervisor. Key Skills: Forklift licence is essential. General physical fitness, with the ability to perform manual handling tasks. Sound product knowledge, with a willingness to learn more. Ability to distinguish between timber species. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Prioritise tasks and work efficiently under time constraints. This role involves physical work, so being comfortable with manual handling and maintaining fitness for the job is important.
