I’m partnering with a national ISP that operates large‑scale, carrier‑grade network infrastructure across Australia. This is a senior, hands‑on Network Operations role for someone with a strong ISP / telco routing background who wants real ownership and responsibility at the sharp end of the network. Must be an Australian Citizen due to clearances & checks required. This position sits within the Network Operations team and is primarily BAU‑focused, acting as the final escalation point for complex network issues, while also contributing to selected project work. You’ll handle complex routing issues, particularly at the network edge, diagnose faults that extend beyond your own network, and work directly with upstream providers to drive issues through to resolution. Network Operations (BAU) Maintain availability and performance of a carrier‑grade ISP network Monitor, measure and optimise network performance to meet SLAs Perform maintenance, upgrades and lifecycle management Escalations & Fault Finding Act as the final level of escalation for complex network faults Troubleshoot routing, performance and connectivity issues at the edge Diagnose issues between internal networks and upstream carriers Own incidents end‑to‑end through to resolution Projects & Change Implement new network designs, infrastructure and services Install, configure and test routing and switching equipment Contribute to selected project work alongside BAU responsibilities Document network designs, configurations and changes Leadership Provide technical guidance and mentoring to engineers and technicians Support internal teams and customers with expert technical advice Requirements Due to police checks and security clearances required for this role, Candidates must be an Australian Citizen. 5 years’ experience in a carrier‑grade ISP or telco environment Strong, hands‑on experience with BGP and OSPF (essential) Deep understanding of how telco networks operate end‑to‑end Proven experience with Juniper and Cisco routing & switching Ability to troubleshoot beyond your own network boundary Solid knowledge of: MPLS / VPLS VLAN, Q‑in‑Q Spanning Tree IPv6 Multicast Nice to have Experience working directly with upstream carriers Exposure to scripting or automation Experience supporting large, multi‑site networks Ready to explore it?
