Make a difference delivering outcomes for our millions of members Part of growing team managing the Private Equity portfolio Permanent role ideally in Melbourne Your New Role AustralianSuper’s Private Equity group manages a diversified portfolio of investments alongside leading private equity managers. Our strategy has been built on a highly successful program of primary fund investments and more direct co-investments and co-underwrite investments with our strategic partners. As an Analyst, you will be part of the team responsible for managing AustralianSuper’s Private Equity portfolio, with a focus on the APAC region. You will be contributing to the evaluation of private equity fund commitments and co-investments (direct investments alongside our General Partner (“GP”) fund managers), assisting with transaction and fund commitment processes, and supporting ongoing portfolio monitoring. Key responsibilities of the role include: Assessing specific Private Equity funds by applying a disciplined and consistent investment process, performing fund-level and GP-level due diligence and contributing to a recommendation report; Supporting the team’s engagement with GPs to source co-investment and co-underwrite opportunities; Assisting in evaluating specific co-investment and co-underwrite opportunities by: Reviewing due diligence materials (commercial, financial, technology, etc.), conducting financial modelling and sensitivity analyses, and assessing key value drivers and risks of the investment; Coordinating the various internal and external diligence workstreams; Supporting day-to-day monitoring process for the portfolio, including: Facilitating quarterly update calls with GPs to track performance and outlook for the funds and portfolio companies; Analysing the operating and financial performance of underlying portfolio companies on a regular basis, and assessing the ongoing investment thesis and any emerging risks or opportunities; Preparing and presenting regular portfolio monitoring reports, summarising performance, future outlook, valuation changes, and key developments; Reviewing fund-related corporate actions or amendments, working with legal/compliance teams to assess implications and draft appropriate responses. Helping to develop and cultivate relationships with GPs, including attending annual general meetings, limited partner meetings, industry conferences, and other networking events. What You’ll Need At least a couple years’ experience in investment banking, private equity, corporate finance, management consulting, or similar roles, with exposure to financial analysis and transactions; Advanced quantitative and Excel skills; experienced in building and interpreting complex financial models like LBOs and cash flows; Strong analytical abilities with a focus on thorough due diligence and deriving insights from financial statements and market data; Excellent written and verbal communication skills for creating clear investment memos, presentations, and conveying recommendations effectively; Skilled at managing multiple tasks in fast-paced environments; consistently meeting deadlines and maintaining high work quality; Effective team player with strong interpersonal skills, adaptability, and willingness to support others across teams; Professional, self-motivated, eager to learn, and enthusiastic about private equity and ongoing development.
