This is a rare opportunity to lead a high‑priority, national public safety program that will shape the future of mobile broadband capability for emergency services across Australia. We are seeking a senior, delivery‑focused Program Manager to lead a large‑scale, high‑profile commercial program with complex stakeholder, technical and organisational dependencies. Your work will directly support frontline responders nationwide, helping ensure critical communications are reliable, secure and resilient—when it matters most. About the team The PSMB team is progressing a national public safety mobile broadband initiative, working across governments, emergency services and industry to improve broadband capability for emergency responders across Australia. The team spans policy, service design, business case development, procurement, commercial and technical disciplines, translating frontline operational needs into clear service models, robust investment decisions and well‑governed market activities. The work directly supports senior government decision‑making and contributes to the long‑term delivery of secure, reliable and resilient communications for emergency services nationwide. What you’ll do You will own delivery outcomes at an executive level and lead end‑to‑end delivery, including: Leading a large, complex, multi‑vendor commercial program with significant technical, organisational and national stakeholder dependencies Owning program outcomes—driving delivery actions, resolving issues, maintaining momentum and providing clear executive assurance and reporting Managing major commercial arrangements and contracts across multiple suppliers, ensuring performance, value for money and risk outcomes Leading delivery across integrated ICT and infrastructure domains, aligning technology, infrastructure, policy and commercial streams Establishing and maintaining strong program governance, assurance, risk management and reporting frameworks Engaging, influencing and advising senior executives, central agencies, emergency services and industry partners at a national level Leading multidisciplinary teams to deliver agreed outcomes within scope, timeframe and budget For more information on the role and its accountabilities, click here to view the role description. What you’ll bring Essential A strong track record leading large‑scale, multi‑vendor commercial programs in complex senior stakeholder environments Demonstrated experience delivering integrated ICT and infrastructure programs (ICT‑only or infrastructure‑only backgrounds will not be suitable) Executive‑level delivery capability with a hands‑on leadership style and clear accountability for outcomes High‑level commercial acumen, including management of major contracts and supplier performance Desirable Experience delivering public safety, broadband or other mission‑critical national infrastructure programs Experience operating in whole‑of‑government or highly regulated environments, including cross‑jurisdictional settings A talent pool may be created from this recruitment action for future temporary or ongoing vacancies in roles with similar capability requirements.
