Shape the Future of Perth’s Built Environment The City of Perth is seeking an experienced and visionary City Architect to provide expert architectural leadership and strategic advice that elevates the design quality of Perth’s built environment. Reporting to the General Manager Planning and Sustainability, this highly specialised role plays a critical part in shaping the design outcomes of major development proposals, City projects and planning initiatives. Working across the organisation and with external stakeholders, the City Architect provides independent design expertise to ensure development outcomes align with the City’s vision for a well-planned, vibrant and design-led capital city. About The Role Architectural Leadership: Provide expert advice on building form, scale, massing and urban design outcomes for significant development proposals and City projects; Design Review & Development Assessment: Contribute architectural expertise to development applications, supporting high-quality, realistic and deliverable outcomes; City Design Strategy: Provide input into planning policy, design guidelines and the Local Planning Scheme to embed high standards of design across the City; Major Project Advisory: Support City and State projects through early design input, advisory roles and participation in project teams; Sustainability & Innovation: Champion sustainable design practices and contribute to initiatives that enhance the environmental performance of buildings and precincts; Capability Building: Coach and support internal teams in applying architectural and urban design principles to achieve better design outcomes. About You To be successful in this role, you will bring: A Masters of Architecture (or equivalent) and registration as an Architect in Western Australia; Extensive experience navigating planning frameworks, statutory controls and regulatory processes relating to complex urban developments; Demonstrated expertise assessing and advising on major mixed-use and multi-storey developments within a capital city context; Strong capability in architectural design software such as Autodesk (AutoCAD and/or Revit); Highly developed stakeholder engagement and advisory skills, with the ability to influence outcomes across government, industry and professional communities.
