The HSEQ Advisor is responsible for the safe work environment through promoting a safe workplace culture and leading Health & Safety awareness to reduce the number of incidents and injuries and ensure the safety management systems developed, implemented, and maintained. They will also act as a main point of contact and liaison with local Aboriginal communities and other stakeholders. Key Responsibilities: Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ) Develop, implement, and review contract-specific safety, environmental, and quality plans. Support the preparation and review of Job Safety Analyses and Safe Work Method Statements. Monitor and report HSEQ performance statistics, identifying trends and improvement opportunities. Ensure incidents are reported, investigated, and closed out in line with statutory and contractual requirements. Stakeholder & Team Engagement Liaise with Delivery Managers, Supervisors, and subcontractors to coordinate safe and efficient delivery. Act as a point of contact for DIT, subcontractors, and regional stakeholders regarding scheduling and HSEQ matters. Mentor and support operational staff, promoting continuous improvement and knowledge sharing. Verification of Competency (VOC) & Training Establish and manage VOC frameworks for plant, equipment, and critical tasks. Ensure all personnel are appropriately inducted, trained, and deemed competent prior to undertaking work. Maintain training matrices and competency records aligned to operational and contractual requirements. Onboarding & Workforce Capability Lead onboarding processes for employees and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with company and client standards. Identify training gaps and coordinate upskilling and development programs. Promote a strong safety culture through engagement, coaching, and leadership support. Systems, Reporting & Continuous Improvement Maintain HSEQ documentation, systems, and reporting (e.g. audits, KPIs, observations). Analyse trends and provide actionable insights to improve safety and operational performance. Support continuous improvement initiatives aligned to business and client objectives About You: Experience in transport infrastructure, maintenance delivery, or project delivery. M inimum professional qualification of a Certificate IV in HSE 5 years of on-site work of a similar magnitude and complexity Current Driver’s License, White Card, First Aid, and WZTM accreditation. Experience in remote or regional operational environments (desirable) Qualifications in Safety Management (SSR) Recognised tertiary environmental qualification (EMR) Customer service and organising skills, combined with communication skills, both oral and written, including the ability to liaise with a variety of stakeholders.
