Job Description Permanent full time Based in Sydney, NSW Hybrid working arrangements What’s the role? We are looking for an experienced Lawyer or Senior Lawyer to join our Scams & Financial Crime Operations Legal team within Group Legal. You will be part of a specialist team providing high‑quality legal advice on scams‑related customer complaints, disputes and litigation, supporting regulatory and litigation matters, and partnering closely with operational and risk teams in a fast‑paced, high‑impact environment to deliver fair customer outcomes while managing legal, regulatory and reputational risk. Key responsibilities: Provide timely, practical legal advice on scams‑related customer complaints, disputes and litigation Support AFCA investigations and regulatory engagement, including interactions with external regulators and dispute resolution schemes Assist in managing legal risk across scams and financial crime operations and contribute to consistent legal outcomes Partner closely with operational, risk and compliance teams to resolve matters efficiently and fairly Draft and review legal documentation, correspondence, and submissions. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including uplift of processes, controls and legal frameworks Escalate significant legal risks and issues as required and support governance and reporting activities. What do I need? 4 – 10years plus years’ PQE Experience in dispute resolution and/or litigation Experience within financial services would be advantageous Exposure to scams, fraud, financial crime or regulatory matters is highly desirable Strong legal judgement with the ability to balance customer fairness, regulatory expectations and commercial outcomes Excellent stakeholder management skills and the confidence to advise senior operational leaders Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal issues clearly Highly organised, resilient and comfortable managing competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
