We are seeking a highly capable Legal Executive Assistant to support the General Counsel in expanding their legal function. About the Role This is a key position supporting the General Counsel and broader legal team in a fast-paced, high-impact environment. You will play a central role in coordinating legal workflows, preparing high-quality documentation, and ensuring the smooth operation of legal and governance processes across the Authority. This role requires strong judgement, discretion, and the ability to work confidently with senior stakeholders across a Commonwealth environment. Key Responsibilities Provide high-level executive and operational support to the General Counsel Coordinate legal matters and maintain registers, tracking systems and documentation Assist with legal research, briefs, submissions and internal documentation Prepare, edit and format legal, governance and corporate documents Manage document control, versioning and record-keeping in line with probity requirements Support procurement and probity processes, including documentation and approvals Coordinate meetings, agendas, minutes and action tracking Liaise with internal stakeholders and external legal providers Contribute to continuous improvement of legal systems and workflows Draft initial correspondence and support cross-functional coordination (Legal, HR, Risk, PMO) Essential Skills & Experience Relevant tertiary qualification with proven experience in a legal support or operations role (e.g. legal secretary, paralegal), ideally within a complex or regulated environment, with the ability to coordinate legal matters, manage registers and workflows, and support procurement and probity processes with accuracy and discretion. Demonstrated capability in legal research and the preparation of briefs, submissions and executive documentation, alongside advanced document management skills including editing, formatting and version control with high attention to detail. Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships and present information clearly and professionally to senior stakeholders, internal clients and external providers. Sound judgement, initiative and organisational capability, including the ability to manage competing priorities, handle sensitive matters, work independently in a fast-paced environment, and apply knowledge of APS governance, systems and administrative requirements. Eligibility To be eligible for this role, applicants must be an Australian citizen and be able to obtain and maintain an appropriate security clearance.
