About the role We are seeking an experienced Freedom of Information (FOI) Lawyer to join our Commonwealth Government client, based in Woden, ACT. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive legal advice on administrative law and FOI-related matters. An initial labour hire contract until 30 June 2026 is on offer, with the possibility further extension. This role is full time, and is available to candidates in Canberra, ACT. Remote or flexible working arrangements will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Please note: only Australian citizens can be considered for this role. Duties: Assist in processing FOI requests, including drafting correspondence to external stakeholders, undertaking consultation, reviewing and marking up documentation and drafting decision letters Assist with the management of Information Commissioner reviews, complaints and investigations, including drafting submissions and corresponding with applicants Proactively review historical Information Commissioner review matters and draft updated submissions Requisite skills/experience: Demonstrated knowledge of the Freedom of Information Act 1982 Strong written communication skills Excellent organisation skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment 2-4 years’ post admission experience in administrative law and the freedom of information legal framework Culture and benefits adaptbl is owned and managed by lawyers and other professionals who have first-hand experience working as contractors.
