Global Institutional Banking Coverage (GIBC or Coverage) leads client origination and relationship management for CBA’s Institutional Banking and Markets (IB&M) division. Within Coverage, the Diversified Industries group supports critical sectors powering the real economy. We work closely with product partners across IB&M to deliver capital, liquidity, risk and transaction solutions to Australia’s leading corporates. This Senior Associate role is designed to bolster our credit analysis, execution capability and day-to-day management of clients in support of our growth agenda across the Technology, Media, Telecommunications, Health and Industrials sectors. Do work that matters: You will support senior Coverage bankers to engage with C-suite and Treasurers to deliver best-in-class client outcomes across full transaction lifecycles – from origination through structuring, credit approval and documentation, to ongoing portfolio management – partnering closely with product, risk and internal stakeholders. Key elements of the role include: Provide support to Bankers in covering and servicing the needs of our clients including complex transactions, operational requirements and day-to-day enquiries across the client lifecycle. Work as part of a Deal Team over the lifecycle of a deal to support and drive idea generation and origination, documentation, execution, relevant internal approvals, establishment, settlement and in-life maintenance processes. Provide quantitative and qualitative analysis for the preparation of credit reviews and credit applications for transactions that help inform senior stakeholder decisions. Liaise with product partners, credit risk and other stakeholders to deliver on client outcomes, allowing for visibility across the IB&M and Risk functions. Contribute to the Bank’s understanding of industry themes and trends to assess its applicability to client-specific opportunities and risk appetite. Collect client information to facilitate and support the Know Your Customer ‘KYC’ onboarding process for new clients and the KYC review process for existing clients, including liaising with customers and the relevant middle office teams. Perform portfolio monitoring activates such as breach management and other reporting as well as maintaining client, credit and transaction data. We’re interested in hearing from people who have: Relevant background in institutional / corporate banking coverage, credit risk, leverage finance, structured finance or corporate finance. Technical skills across industry and company analysis as well as an understanding of risk management and credit risk issues. A solid understanding of institutional banking financing products (and ideally broader IB&M solutions such as trade finance, asset financing, DCM, hedging/risk, and transaction banking) and how they fit differing client needs. Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to influence and manage stakeholders. High personal standards and an ability to deliver under pressure with tight deadlines. The ability to quickly develop sector understanding and translate this into better outcomes. Degree in Commerce, Business or related field. This opportunity.
