Influence projects before they go to market This is a front-end position where you engage consultants and contractors early, shape specifications, and position solutions long before projects are released. We are partnering with a global leader in critical infrastructure seeking a commercially astute and proactive Business Development Manager to strengthen its presence across consultant and contractor networks in the Southern Region. The Role Based in Melbourne, you will take ownership of key consultant and contractor relationships across VIC, SA, WA, and TAS. You will operate at the early stages of the sales cycle — building influence, identifying opportunities, and ensuring solutions are specified into major infrastructure projects. Success in this role comes from your ability to open doors, build credibility, and stay engaged across long sales cycles. What You’ll Be Doing Build and deepen relationships across consultant and contractor networks. Influence specifications at design stage to drive downstream sales success. Proactively open new opportunities within your territory. Deliver technical presentations, briefings, and engagement sessions. Work closely with internal sales teams to convert opportunities into revenue. Develop and execute territory and account plans. Provide market insights to support strategic decision-making. Represent the business at industry events and customer engagements. What We’re Looking For Proven experience engaging with consultants and/or contractors. Background in technical sales (electrical, HVAC, critical infrastructure or similar). Ability to influence stakeholders early in the project lifecycle. Strong commercial acumen with a proactive, self-driven approach. Credibility to operate in long-cycle, relationship-led sales environments. Confident communicator with strong presentation skills.
