Key Responsibilities Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions Fabricate, assemble, and repair structural steel components and marine equipment Perform MIG, TIG, and Stick welding to Australian Standards Carry out modifications and structural upgrades on naval vessels and dockside infrastructure Use hand and power tools safely and efficiently Conduct cutting, grinding, gouging, and finishing of metal components Perform on-site installations and fit-ups Undertake maintenance and shutdown works as required Complete quality checks to ensure work meets defence and project specifications Adhere strictly to WHS policies, site procedures, and safety regulations Work collaboratively within a team in a high-compliance environment Maintain clean and organised work areas Skills & Experience Trade qualified Boilermaker (Certificate III Engineering – Fabrication Trade) Demonstrated experience in heavy fabrication or marine/defence environments Proficient in multiple welding processes Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings High attention to detail and quality workmanship Ability to pass medical, drug & alcohol screening Must be eligible to obtain site/security clearance (if required) Desirable Confined Space & Working at Heights tickets EWP, Dogging or Rigging licences Previous experience working in shipyards or defence projects This is an excellent opportunity to work within a secure, professional environment on large-scale marine and defence projects at Garden Island.
