Project Overview The Northern Territory Government is establishing a new purpose-built special education facility in Palmerston to accommodate up to 200 students. This project is a key election commitment aligned with the NT Disability Strategy 2022-2032, aimed at providing inclusive education for middle and senior years students with disabilities. The school will be delivered via a Design, Development, and Construct (DD&C) contract. Position Purpose As the lead of a consultant team, you will be responsible for the comprehensive management of all facets of the project’s lifecycle, including design, construction, commissioning, and final completion . You will act as the Superintendent’s Representative for the primary DD&C contract, ensuring the project is delivered on time, within budget, and to the required technical standards. Key Responsibilities Contract Administration: Undertake the role of Superintendent’s Representative, managing the DD&C contract, reviewing progress payments, variations, and extensions of time. Governance & Leadership: Chair Project Control Group (PCG) meetings, fortnightly contractor progress meetings, and weekly delivery team meetings. Technical Supervision: Inspect building-related construction to ensure materials and workmanship comply with the Building Code of Australia (BCA), Australian Standards, and contract drawings. Quality Control: Coordinate input from discipline resources to inspect work at designated Witness and Hold points . Risk Management: Lead risk management workshops, maintain risk registers, and report mitigation strategies to the Superintendent. Project Closure: Manage all closure activities, including financial closure, relevant authority approvals, and the Defects Liability Period (DLP) . Reporting: Deliver weekly status reports, monthly written progress reports, and a final Project Lesson Learnt report . Required Qualifications & Experience Certification: Must be registered with an Australian-based organization (or equivalent) as a certified practicing project manager . Experience: Demonstrated success in managing projects of similar scope, scale, and complexity, with a proven track record in the Darwin/Palmerston region preferred. Technical Knowledge: Extensive understanding of various Design and Construct (D&C) contract models . Leadership: Ability to lead a multi-disciplinary team and work collaboratively with government agencies (DIPL) and external contractors. Requirements
