Job Description – Stonemason Business: Granite & Marble Factory Pty Ltd Employment Type: Full-Time Salary: $75,000 to $85,000 pa Position Summary You will be responsible for the fabrication, shaping, finishing, and installation of natural and engineered stone products including granite, marble, and other stone materials. The role involves working with specialised tools and machinery to produce custom stone products for residential and commercial construction projects. The Stonemason ensures all work is completed to precise measurements, high-quality standards, and in compliance with workplace health and safety requirements. Key Duties and Responsibilities Selecting and preparing stone materials including granite, marble, and engineered stone for fabrication and installation. Measuring, marking, and cutting stone using hand tools, power tools, and specialised stone-cutting machinery. Shaping and dressing stone surfaces using chisels, grinders, polishing tools, and finishing equipment. Fabricating stone products such as kitchen benchtops, vanity tops, splashbacks, wall panels, and custom stone features. Reading and interpreting drawings, templates, and job specifications to ensure accurate fabrication and installation. Polishing, sealing, and finishing stone surfaces to achieve a high-quality appearance and durability. Installing stone products at residential and commercial sites, including securing stone to structures using adhesives, fixings, and supports. Repairing, restoring, or replacing damaged stonework when required. Operating and maintaining stone fabrication machinery including saws, polishers, and CNC equipment where applicable. Ensuring all work complies with workplace health and safety standards, particularly when handling heavy stone materials and operating machinery. Collaborating with management and other team members to ensure project deadlines and quality standards are met. Skills and Qualifications Relevant trade qualification in Stonemasonry or a closely related field, or equivalent industry experience. Demonstrated experience working with natural and engineered stone materials. Ability to safely operate stone fabrication equipment and tools. Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precise measurements. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and templates. Good physical fitness and capability to handle heavy materials. Work Environment The position involves work in both a stone fabrication workshop and on-site installations at residential and commercial construction locations. The Stonemason must adhere to all Work Health and Safety (WHS) policies and use appropriate personal protective equipment.
