As the leader of our Project Management Practice, you will guide a talented team of project managers , ensuring exceptional delivery outcomes while continuously strengthening our project management capability. Reporting to the Head of Service Excellence, you will lead the growth, engagement, and development of the practice. This role blends strategic leadership with hands-on delivery influence, overseeing project governance, guiding complex client engagements, and ensuring our delivery methodology consistently drives commercially sound and high-quality outcomes. You will play a key role in aligning people, projects, and capabilities to support Smart WFM’s continued expansion. By fostering a high-performing team culture, strengthening delivery standards, and championing continuous improvement, you will help ensure our clients realise the full value of workforce management technology. This role is ideal for a project leader who combines strong commercial awareness, deep technology delivery experience, preferably within UKG WFM solutions, and a passion for developing people and practices that deliver meaningful impact. While this is a "remote first" job, note that some travel to client sites may be require. Key Responsibilities: People Leadership (30-40%) Lead, coach and develop a high-performing team of Project Managers by supporting their career growth, fostering collaboration and ensuring strong engagement across the practice. Talent Allocation & Engagement (10-20% ) Work with delivery leaders to align project resources with client needs, manage practice capacity and ensure consultants are deployed where they can deliver the greatest impact. Delivery Governance & Forecasting (20–30%) Establish and maintain strong project governance, ensuring consistent methodology, accurate forecasting and proactive management of delivery risks across the portfolio. Client & Proposal Support (10–20%) Support client engagements and proposals by contributing to solution design, scoping and positioning the practice’s expertise with customers. Subject Matter Expertise (20–40%) Provide thought leadership in workforce management and project delivery, contributing to key engagements while mentoring consultants and strengthening practice capability. Continuous Improvement & AI-Driven Productivity (10–15%) Drive ongoing improvement across the practice by championing new delivery approaches, automation and AI tools that enhance productivity and project outcomes. Success Criteria: Practice utilisation, realisation rates and gross margin Employee engagement, retention and progression Quality and win-rate of proposals supported Client satisfaction (NPS) for engagements involving practice team Forecast accuracy within agreed variance thresholds (monthly and quarterly) Consistent application of PM methodology and governance standards Reduction in uncontrolled scope change and margin erosion Portfolio health visibility and timely escalation of at-risk projects Qualifications & Experience 10 years experience leading complex workforce management implementation projects. Proven experience managing and developing teams of Project Managers or delivery consultants. Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and delivery governance practices. Demonstrated ability to manage project forecasting, utilisation, and commercial performance in a consulting or services environment. Experience contributing to solution design, project scoping and proposal development for client engagements. Deep understanding of enterprise software delivery, preferably within workforce management or HR technology platforms. Experience with UKG Pro WFM, UKG Ready, or similar workforce management solutions highly regarded. Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to build trusted relationships with clients and internal leaders. Proven ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives across delivery practices. Experience leveraging automation, data or AI tools to improve delivery efficiency and productivity. Relevant qualifications in Project Management, Business, Technology or a related discipline. Professional certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, Agile or equivalent highly regarded.
