About The Role As an Administration Officer within Admissions, you will play an important role in supporting the patient journey from the point of admission. The role is varied and dynamic, with exposure to multiple areas of hospital administration. You will be required to work a 24/7 rotating roster, including nights, weekends, and public holidays. Day-to-day duties include processing admissions via the Emergency Department, planned and direct admissions, managing surgical waiting lists, maintaining accurate patient and booking information, and supporting admission-related revenue processes. You will regularly liaise with clinical staff, patients, and families to ensure admissions are completed accurately and efficiently. This role is primarily team-based and suits someone who enjoys working in a busy environment where priorities can change quickly. Where You’ll Be Working John Hunter Hospital (JHH) is a major tertiary referral hospital located in Newcastle and one of the largest and busiest facilities in NSW. The hospital is currently undergoing an exciting period of change, including transition to a new build, refurbishment works, and the rollout of SDPR. You will be part of the Admissions Service, which manages all patient admissions across the hospital, including emergency admissions, planned and direct admissions, surgical waiting lists, waiting list bookings, and revenue-related processes. The service works closely with inpatient wards, the Emergency Department, perioperative services, and clinical teams across the hospital.
