A leading design and architecture practice is seeking a highly capable Contracts Manager to join their team. This position plays a central role in ensuring contractual clarity, managing subconsultant agreements, supporting project teams, and safeguarding the commercial integrity of the practice’s work. This is a full?time position, reflecting the pace of project deadlines and the continuous nature of contract and commercial oversight. This role can be based either in Sydney or Melbourne. Key Responsibilities Contract Management • Review, interpret, and negotiate client and subconsultant contracts • Identify scope gaps, risks, liabilities, and commercial exposures • Manage variations, fee adjustments, and contractual amendments • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations throughout project delivery • Support project leaders in understanding contractual requirements and risk positions Subconsultant & Procurement Management • Prepare, issue, and manage subconsultant agreements • Coordinate tendering processes and evaluate commercial submissions • Ensure subconsultant scopes and fees align with project requirements Commercial & Financial Support • Translate scopes and deliverables into accurate fee structures • Maintain high?accuracy spreadsheets and commercial documentation • Support project teams with budgeting, forecasting, and financial tracking • Monitor project performance and escalate risks early Operational Collaboration • Work closely with internal finance, legal, and operations teams • Assist with system inputs and commercial reporting (training provided) • Contribute to improving internal commercial processes and templates Ideal Candidate Profile Background & Experience • Experience in contract administration, commercial management, or project management • Background in architecture, engineering, construction, or design highly advantageous • Understanding of the design lifecycle and ability to identify scope risks • Comfortable working with contracts, numbers, and commercial frameworks Skills & Attributes • Exceptional numerical accuracy and spreadsheet competency • Highly organised, detail?oriented, and methodical • Pragmatic, solutions?focused, and able to work autonomously • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Common?sense operator with a proactive, hands?on approach • Willingness to handle both high?level commercial tasks and administrative detail Consultant Emily Lodola Consultant, Business Support (02) 9212 0230 emily.l@bespokecareers.com https://www.linkedin.com/in/emily-lodola-57b313225/ Reference number: 72335 Profession:Business SupportProject Manager, Document Control/Project Admin Company: Bespoke Careers Date posted: 19th Mar, 2026
