Based in Salisbury. The Role Centacare's Children’s Services Unit offers an opportunity for an experienced Social Worker to join our Kids in Focus program based in Salisbury. The primary focus of this role is to provide medium to long-term therapeutic, in home, case management support and non-judgmental care for parents and caregivers navigating challenges related to substance and alcohol use. You will be working as a part of a highly skilled and tight-knit team to deliver a comprehensive range of child-focused interventions aimed at enhancing parenting skills, fostering healthy parent-child relationships, and creating safe family environments. Collaborating closely with government and non-government organisations, you will contribute significantly to improving the safety, emotional wellbeing, and overall resilience of families facing challenges with Alcohol and other Drugs (AOD) issues. Other responsibilities include: Support caregivers in establishing and sustaining a safe home environment through practical and therapeutic interventions. Provide families with information to enhance child safety, well-being, and overall family functioning. Assist parents to address AOD challenges and educate them on its parenting impacts. Facilitate connections between families and community support services. Provide advocacy support to families, prioritising children’s wellbeing. Collaborate effectively within a team setting. This is a fixed-term position until 31 January 2027. About you You will bring experience in intensive work with families and children, combined with a strong understanding of Child Protection Legislation. You possess a deep understanding of factors critical to children’s well-being and prioritise their needs when supporting families. Your approach is characterised by honesty and professionalism, respecting each individual’s uniqueness without judgment. You excel in collaborative team environments to deliver outstanding service. With your strong communication skills, you effortlessly build trust and establish meaningful connections with the individuals you assist. Other Skills and Qualifications: Social Work Degree Experience in working intensively with families and children.
