Platform Engineer The Role: As a Platform Engineer, you will be pivotal in guiding technical initiatives and delivering robust infrastructure solutions. You will transform, modernise, and support critical workloads across on-premise and hybrid cloud environments. This role involves developing platform roadmaps, implementing enhancements for performance and security, and engaging in continuous improvement through system patching and upgrades. Key Responsibilities: Contribute to infrastructure platforms to meet current and future organisational needs. Provide responsive and specialist technical support as a Subject Matter Expert. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance infrastructure performance, reliability, scalability, efficiency, and security. Collaborate with the DevOps team to automate deployment, maintenance, and ensure system availability. Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting tools for proactive issue resolution. Contribute to the maintenance and improvement of Infrastructure Technology knowledge base and procedures. Contribute to building capability in junior staff through knowledge sharing, training, coaching, and mentoring. Act as a level 3 escalation point for critical and intricate problems. Maintain awareness, understanding, and compliance with Company policies and procedures. Undertake studies of new technologies and innovations to navigate complex infrastructure landscapes. Qualifications & Experience: Essential: Demonstrable solid understanding and practical experience in system administration, operations, support, and solutions implementation. Ability to articulate technical solutions to business stakeholders and technical teams. Advanced hands-on system administration, problem-solving, with 2 years' experience and knowledge of three or more of the following technologies: NetApp ONTAP, AWS S3 and FSx, VMware vSphere, DELL PowerEdge/PowerStore or similar HCI solutions, AWS Compute Services, Microsoft SQL Server, AWS Database Services, Cohesity DataProtect or similar enterprise-grade backup solutions, Microsoft AD DS, Windows Server or Linux Server. Knowledge of systems security, administration practices, standards, and policies. Systems automation, scheduling, and scripting. Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC). Preferred: One or more industry-recognised technical certifications (AWS Associate, VMware Data Center Virtualisation, Cohesity Associate, NetApp ONTAP, Microsoft Associate Certifications). CIS Benchmark experience. Enterprise monitoring suites such as New Relic or similar. Infrastructure Architecture principles, knowledge, and experience. Knowledge of an agile framework. Experience working with the ServiceNow ecosystem. Familiarity with CPS234 or ISO27002 (or similar) frameworks.
