Explore the Opportunity An opportunity has become available for a Project Officer to support the National Feral Pig Action Plan project, funded by the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry and managed by APL, that aims to reduce the impacts of feral pigs on Australia’s environmental, agricultural and cultural assets across Australia. This role presents a unique opportunity to: - Support nationally significant work reducing the impacts of feral pigs across diverse landscapes; Develop standout extension and awareness materials to influence best-practice feral pig management; Build your skills in project coordination, science communication and stakeholder engagement; and Gain exposure to national networks in agriculture, conservation, natural resource management, biosecurity and Indigenous land management. This is a contract position commencing in March 2026 and ending in October 2027. Here's a snapshot of your key responsibilities: - Support the delivery of the National Feral Pig Management Program by coordinating activities and ensuring key deliverables are completed on time. Assist with program reporting, administration and meeting coordination. Undertake background research on policy, legislation and scientific developments to inform program activities. Create clear and engaging communication and extension materials to promote best-practice feral pig management and RD&E outputs. Prepare content for websites, social media and newsletters to share program outcomes. Maintain register of environmental conservation projects involving feral pig management. Help plan and deliver online and in-person workshops, webinars, conferences and stakeholder engagement activities. About You To be a standout for this role, you’ll be able to tick the following boxes: Tertiary qualification in environmental science, agriculture, conservation, natural resource management or a related discipline. Demonstrated experience supporting projects that deliver best-practice vertebrate pest management, balancing competing priorities and meeting deadlines. Proven experience in program management skills, including analytical and data management, communication and stakeholder engagement planning, budgeting and priority setting. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrable experience translating scientific, policy and legislative information into clear, engaging and educative materials suitable for diverse audiences including primary producers. Capability and willingness to interact and contribute as a member of a team. High level of attention to detail. Willingness to travel within Australia, as required.
