About the role We are seeking a full-time ongoing Concrete Technician to join our growing team in Ormeau. Reporting to the Precast Factory Manager, you will be responsible for the operation of the laboratory, including all associated record keeping and overall oversight of product quality. This newly created position is designed to support our continued growth. This is a hands-on role that supports the factory in the delivery of major infrastructure projects across QLD. This role will be required to work from 5.30am to 1.30pm alongside the other factory employees. You will receive ongoing support and guidance from our other laboratory employees who work at our other sites, as well as our fantastic team in Ormeau. Qualifications, skills & experience Previous experience as a concrete field tester or working in a concrete testing laboratory (desired). Certificate or Diploma in Laboratory Techniques, Materials Testing, or related discipline (preferred). Ability to manage non-conformances through data analysis and process improvements. High attention to detail with strong data, documentation and organisational skills. Familiarity with Australian Standards, TMR specifications, and NATA requirements. Be physically able to lift/carry concrete samples and undertake testing up to 15kg. Effective communication and customer service skills. Responsibilities Work safely at all times, including manual handling of heavy materials. Maintain the laboratory in accordance with NATA standards. Perform sampling and testing of fresh concrete in accordance with AS 1012 and TMR specifications. Prepare and handle concrete specimens for laboratory testing, including moulding, and curing. Conduct compression strength testing on hardened concrete specimens using calibrated equipment. Accurately record and report test results through Geotester. Ensure the laboratory is kept to a high standard of cleanliness and organised efficiently, according to 5S standards. Maintain documented procedures related to all tasks performed and assist in training others. Assist with NATA accreditation processes as required. Conduct QA checks, including pre-pour and post-pour checks, and other QA checks required to enhance quality and reduce the risk of non-compliances. Manage all administrative database and relevant paperwork required for the lab and QA processes, including lab software data entry and production system (master file). Assist in the identification of quality defects and factory waste, and initiate solutions based on the lean manufacturing principles. Perform stocktakes of lab items as required. Undertake other tasks as required by the Precast Factory Manager. The successful candidate will be required to undergo a pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol assessment.
