About the role We’re brewing something special at Balter Brewing Co. in Currumbin — and quality is at the core of everything we do. We’re looking for a Quality Systems Specialist to partner closely with our Quality Manager and help drive the site’s Quality & Food Safety strategy. This is not just a compliance role. It’s a leadership development opportunity for someone who wants to build capability, influence standards across production, and grow into a senior Quality leadership position over time. Reporting directly to the Quality Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring our brewery operates to the highest standards of product safety, regulatory compliance and continuous improvement. You’ll work cross-functionally with Brewing, Packaging, Supply Chain and Leadership to protect the integrity of every beer that leaves our site. Being the backbone of our quality systems, ensuring everything flows smoothly and aligns with our standards of excellence, interacting with every team in the Brewery, combining together to ensure we make the freshest beer. Role requirements Management of Quality and Food Safety based Systems - GMP, HACCP, PRPs, AGPRM and other third-party Standards; Manage and lead relevant external audit programs including documentation management, gap analysis and training; Conduct relevant internal audits and facilitate gap closure with key stakeholders, driving corrective action implementation; Lead and manage continuous improvement of quality assurance/control processes within manufacturing; lead stock isolation and release systems and decisions, managing non conforming stock through to resolution; oversee customer complaint reporting and investigation; Manage consumable and capex procurement for laboratory and quality initiatives; Coordinate non-conformance and corrective action systems for site, and participate or lead manufacturing quality problems solving activities utilising relevant business tools such as 5-Why, Root Cause Analysis or similar; Support the development of team capability through quality systems training and improvement workshops Improve organization effectiveness through the development and deployment of solutions to enhance productivity and drive a quality culture; including KPI management and reporting, data driven analysis/trending and utilising onsite systems (Ignition, Netsuite, etc) to communicate effectively to the wider site and central teams; Advise and implement Nationally developed procedures and support Quality centralisation initiatives. The skills needed Strong working knowledge of Quality & Food Safety systems within food or beverage manufacturing Experience managing HACCP-based systems and supporting external audits Confidence influencing production teams and holding standards without damaging relationships High attention to detail paired with strong commercial awareness and project management skills. Analytical capability with the ability to translate data into action ERP literacy (NetSuite / Ignition highly regarded) A desire to grow into a broader Quality leadership role Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across teams. About You … You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Science (or similar) and bring a minimum of 4 years’ experience in Quality within food or beverage manufacturing. Exposure to brewing is advantageous, and an IBD qualification is highly regarded. You’re ambitious. You want to grow into broader leadership responsibility over time and are motivated by building capability in others, not just ticking compliance boxes. Your ‘can do’ attitude gives you the ability to establish strong relationships with all levels in the business, and communicate clearly with the relevant stakeholders. Your inquisitive mind means that you are constantly looking for new ways to improve and innovate. You have a strong work ethic, are self motivated, reliable and persistent.
