We are seeking an experienced and hands-on IT Manager to oversee and strengthen our infrastructure, networking, cybersecurity, and systems operations across head office and branch locations. This role is both strategic and technical, requiring strong leadership capability alongside deep technical expertise. Key Responsibilities Networking & Firewalls (required) Manage and maintain network and security policies in a Fortinet environment across 14 branches and the head office. Manage security services including updating firewall polices, web filtering, IPS, and application control. Configure, maintain and troubleshoot routing including SDWAN, NAT, VPNs (site-to-site and SSL VPN), exposure to FortiClient EMS desirable. Manage switching infrastructure and VLAN configurations. FortiWeb, FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer experience advantageous. Cybersecurity (required) Oversee organisational cybersecurity posture and controls. Respond to security questionnaires and contract-related security surveys. Lead or support formal security assessments. Ensure continuous improvement of security governance and compliance practices. Databases (desired) Manage and maintain SQL Server environments. Perform database updates and upgrades. Configure and manage SQL Always-On availability groups. Collaborate with internal or external SQL specialists where required. Team Leadership Lead, mentor, and develop the IT team. Provide technical oversight and act as an escalation point for complex issues. Ensure operational resilience and reduce key-person dependency risks. Other Required Skills To ensure operational continuity and reduce reliance on single points of failure, the successful candidate should demonstrate capability across the following areas: Virtualisation: VMware ESXi essential; Hyper-V desirable. Citrix: Experience managing and supporting Citrix environments advantageous. Microsoft 365 Stack: Strong M365 administration experience required; SharePoint experience desirable. Windows Server: Deep knowledge of Windows Server 2019/2022 (and newer), including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and domain services. Automation: Experience with PowerShell and/or Power Automate to improve operational efficiency. Education & Professional Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related discipline; or equivalent industry experience. Industry certifications highly regarded (e.g., Fortinet NSE, Cisco, Microsoft, VMware). Networking and security certifications desirable. Demonstrated ongoing professional development in cybersecurity, infrastructure, or cloud technologies. Valid driver’s licence (if travel between branches is required). Ability to define and drive the hardware and software strategy of the organisation. Experience managing IT procurement processes, including vendor negotiation, lifecycle planning, budgeting, and asset management. Strong commercial awareness with the ability to balance risk, cost, and operational impact. Excellent stakeholder communication skills, including presenting technical concepts to non-technical audiences. Strong documentation and governance discipline. Ability to prioritise effectively in a multi-site environment.
