Reporting to the Superintendent Infrastructure Systems, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining and optimising HIO’s core systems infrastructure across on‑premises and hybrid cloud environments. The role provides technical expertise, governance and continuous improvement across server, storage, virtualisation, backup and cloud platforms. It also adopts modern engineering practices, including Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation and scripting, to deliver scalable, secure and high‑quality systems aligned with HIO’s operational and sustainability objectives. Duties: Provide operational support and maintenance of HIO’s server, storage, virtualisation, backup and hybrid‑cloud systems, ensuring availability, reliability, performance and recoverability across all sites. Contribute to the design and implementation of resilient, scalable, secure, and well‑documented systems infrastructure aligned with HIO’s operational and strategic objectives. Implement and maintain security controls in line with HIO’s cyber security standards. Troubleshoot and resolve complex systems issues, including incident resolution, root‑cause analysis and problem management. Support lifecycle management activities such as patching, upgrades, capacity planning and technology refresh. Assist with disaster recovery planning, testing and ongoing readiness. Provide technical input and support for system‑related projects, integrations and change management processes. Maintain accurate documentation including architecture diagrams, standards and procedures. Engage with vendors on support, compliance, licensing and optimisation matters. Participate in an after‑hours escalation roster (1 in 4 weeks). Skills and Experience: Degree in IT, Engineering or related field. Broad systems engineering capability across enterprise and cloud environments. Skilled in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and modern automation frameworks. Able to support and operate workloads in cloud environments such as Azure, AWS, or GCP. Demonstrated capability in DevOps, automation and scripting practices used in modern infrastructure environments. Comfortable leveraging AI‑enabled tooling to enhance productivity and system management.
