VCID No. 716171 Position Profile: Perth Children’s Hospital & Neonatology (PCHN) is seeking an Advanced Scope Audiologist to join our Audiology Outpatient service. This is a unique opportunity to shape and lead an advanced scope hybrid ENT–Audiology model designed to streamline care and optimise outcomes for children and families. You will be the first point of contact for children referred with hearing-related concerns and provide independent clinical assessment, diagnosis, triage and audiology-led management where appropriate. This role operates as a rapid access pathway that will improve access, reduce wait times (CAT 2 and CAT 3), and ensure children receive timely, evidence-based care. Working closely with the ENT department and part of a multidisciplinary team, you will manage paediatric ENT presentations, and determine appropriate pathways including diagnosis within the clinic, onward referral to ENT, ongoing monitoring, or discharge back to primary care. You will contribute to research and evaluation activities (including GEKKO), ensuring alignment with national and international standards. Your responsibilities will include: Providing expert, independent clinical assessment, diagnosis and triage of paediatric patients referred to ENT with hearing-related concerns. Operating as the first point of contact within a credentialled advanced scope model, managing inclusion and exclusion criteria across routine ear conditions through to those requiring ENT assessment. Providing senior clinical leadership, advice, supervision and education to audiology staff, ENT clinicians, multidisciplinary teams, families and carers. Leading and contributing to service development, quality improvement and innovation in collaboration with the Audiology Head of Department. Supporting waitlist coordination, service efficiency and rapid access models of care. About our Team: The Audiology Department at Perth Children’s Hospital (PCH) provides specialist, tertiary-level hearing services for children and young people from birth to 16 years of age across Western Australia, including diagnosis, management, and rehabilitation for hearing and balance disorders, ensuring early detection and continuity of care. Our audiologists work collaboratively with families, medical teams, and community providers to deliver timely, accurate, and family-centred care. Our team deliver the Children’s Hearing Implant Program (CHIP) - a statewide service providing end-to-end care for children with severe to profound hearing loss, and works closely with the Ear, Nose, Throat and Otolaryngology (ENT) Department, the WA Newborn Hearing Screening Program. In addition to clinical care, the department is actively engaged in research, education, and service innovation, contributing to national and international best practice in paediatric audiology and cochlear implantation.
