This position will be responsible for clearing goods through Australian Customs and Quarantine as per the relevant guidelines. The fundamental responsibilities of this role include: Lodging documents with DAFF, and communicating with DAFF, as required (Perth / Darwin / Brisbane) Compiling and lodging necessary import documentation such as customs declarations Advising customers on import restrictions, tariff systems, quotas, other customs related matters and general consultancy/customer service Calculating duty and tariff payments owed on shipments Classifying goods according to tariff coding system Liaising with officials in various agencies to facilitate clearance of goods through customs and quarantine Providing AHECC codes to exports departments as requested Applying to customs for duty refunds and draw backs Attending and participating in department meetings and other activities as required Afterhours Custom Entry lodgements Public holidays After hours Custom Entry lodgements Reconciling Importers / PFS Account queries on payments and refunds The successful candidate will have: Minimum 2 years experience as a Customs Broker Extensive knowledge of tariff classifications and customs / DAFF legislation Advanced negotiation and relationship skills Positive and professional attitude High attention to detail and strong planning and organising skills Excellent communication skills both verbal and written Ability to work autonomously and harmoniously within a team environment Current Customs Brokers licence Current DAFF accreditation Current unrestricted drivers licence Shortlisted candidates will be required to undergo a Criminal History check.
