The organisation delivers longterm engineering, design and sustainment services across highly regulated environments, offering a stable and technically challenging workplace. Your new role Reporting to the Project Engineering Manager, you will lead the structural engineering discipline, providing technical leadership and delivery oversight across complex platforms. This role blends handson structural engineering with people leadership, design coordination and stakeholder engagement.Key responsibilities include: Leading the structural engineering function across complex assets and projects Providing technical authority across: Primary and secondary structural elements Hull or large steel structures Major and minor equipment foundations Temporary and permanent support structures Applying robust engineering and systems processes to structural design and integration Leading design coordination activities, technical investigations and root cause analysis Overseeing firstprinciples calculations and finite element analysis (FEA) for complex structural problems Reviewing and approving engineering documentation, including analyses, drawings, reports and installation work packages Planning and coordinating engineering activities from concept through to delivery Leading and mentoring engineers within the structural discipline Chairing design coordination and design review meetings with internal teams and external stakeholders Liaising with customers, suppliers, regulators and assurance bodies as required Ensuring compliance with applicable engineering standards, codes and regulatory requirements Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver integrated outcomes What you'll need to succeed Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Naval Architecture or a related discipline Significant, demonstrated experience in structural engineering roles within complex or regulated environments Strong experience in structural analysis and design, ideally involving steel structures Proven capability in finite element modelling and analysis (e.g. ANSYS or similar tools) Demonstrated experience leading and managing engineering teams Strong understanding of engineering standards and assurance processes Ability to review and approve technical designs and engineering documentation Experience using CAD and analysis tools Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder engagement skills Ability to operate autonomously, manage competing priorities and deliver under pressure Eligibility to obtain and maintain NV1 security clearance What you'll get in return A senior technical leadership role supporting complex, highvalue assets Opportunity to influence structural design strategy and integration outcomes Longterm role with stability and professional development opportunities Competitive salary package aligned to experience A collaborative, professional engineering environment What you need to do now If you're interested in this role, click 'apply now' to forward an up-to-date copy of your CV to Holly.Powell@hays.com.au , or call us now.
