Position Summary: The Director, CMO Office, will report to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and will serve as a strategic and operational partner to the CMO and the entire R&D Leadership Team. This role will be accountable for supporting the CMO and the R&D organization in successfully achieving R&D’s OKRs. This includes ensuring that the OKR’s are aligned, cascaded, tracked and integrated with the PPM (Program, Portfolio Management). This also includes supporting the team in prioritizing, problem solving and escalating issues as needed. The Director, CMO Office, will also be accountable for leading functional and cross-functional projects as prioritized by the CMO. Responsibilities: • Support the development, cascading, tracking and reporting of annual OKRs. • Support the development and tracking of R&D’s budget in partnership with Finance. • Build and cultivate relationships across R&D and enterprise functions (Clinical, Regulatory, Program Management, HR, Finance, Operations, Legal, BD, IR, IT, Facilities) to ensure cross-functional alignment and prioritization of initiatives and to escalate issues that need attention by the CMO. • Align with Program & Portfolio Management (PPM) to provide strategic guidance to the CMO on cross-functional priorities and organizational trade-offs. • Lead special projects on behalf of the CMO, including partnership with HR and Finance on budget planning, workforce planning and talent management initiatives change-management efforts. • Serve as a strategic and operational thought partner to the CMO, supporting decision-making, agenda-setting, and follow-through across key priorities. • As a member of the R&D Leadership Team (RDLT), provide input to the organizational strategy, executive decision-making, and cross-functional alignment. • Drive executive prioritization and organizational focus by structuring the CMO's focus and time, decisions, and strategic commitments in alignment with R&D and company-level goals. • Act as the primary point of triage for the CMO by analyzing incoming information, highlighting most sensitive priorities, advising on decision needs, and ensuring issues are routed to the right stakeholders. • Partners with the Communications team as needed to provide synthesis, storytelling, and oversight of executive-level content, including presentations, briefing documents, leadership updates, and R&D-wide communications. • Partner with Human Resources on organizational health, including employee engagement, onboarding, team development, and culture initiatives across R&D. • Provide high-level executive support to CMO (calendar, logistics, confidential communication), maintaining seamless operations. Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree required; advanced training or education in organizational psychology, business operations, or related fields is a strong plus. • 8 years of experience supporting executive leadership, with at least 3 years partnering with C-suite or senior leaders. • Strong project management and change-management capabilities with the ability to drive initiatives from concept to execution. • Proactive, analytical, and resourceful problem-solver who can anticipate needs, navigate ambiguity, and operate with autonomy. • Highly collaborative with a strong ability to build trust across teams, functions, and levels within the organization. • Demonstrated ability to manage executive-level priorities, complex decision pipelines, and high-stakes workflows. • Exceptional communication skills with the proven ability to synthesize information, influence stakeholders, and craft clear executive-ready materials. • Skilled in developing and managing operating cadences, cross-functional processes, and organizational systems that support scaling biotech environments. • High degree of judgment, discretion, and professionalism when handling confidential and sensitive information. • Thrives in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving biotech environment with competing priorities and dynamic stakeholder needs. • Experience in biotech, life sciences, or complex scientific environments required.
