Your Employer Our client, a well-established pig farming enterprise located in regional Australia, is seeking an experienced Pig Farm Manager to join their team on a full-time basis. This role is ideal for a skilled livestock professional who is passionate about high‑quality pig production, sustainable farm operations, and animal welfare. Your Role As a Pig Farm Manager , you will oversee daily operations of the farm ensuring farm operations are profitable and compliant with animal welfare standards. You will maintain the health and welfare of the animals, manage work schedules, organize daily farm activities and ensure the farm’s staff are effectively managed and trained. This hands‑on role requires strong knowledge of operational planning, pig husbandry, pig nutritional health. You will uphold a high standard animal welfare and biosecurity while ensuring production targets are met. Key Responsibilities Plan, organise, and perform piggery operations related to the breeding, raising, and management of pigs for meat and breeding stock. Oversee and carry out breeding programs, including heat detection, mating procedures, farrowing supervision, and care of piglets. Implement feeding and nutrition programs to maintain herd health, growth rates, and production levels. Monitor and maintain the health and welfare of livestock, including administering vaccinations, routine treatments, and implementing biosecurity practices. Manage, supervise, train and induct farm workers, contractors on stocksense, correct handling methods and animal welfare standards. Develop and follow strategies to manage biosecurity, disease prevention, and risk mitigation across all production areas. Provide clean water and manage pastures, fodder crops, or feed resources to ensure adequate nutrition and hygiene. Organise daily and seasonal routines such as handling, treatment procedures, environmental control, and production hygiene. Maintain, inspect, and oversee repairs of farm infrastructure including sheds, pens, fencing, water systems, feeding systems, and machinery. Coordinate the purchase, sale, and transportation of pigs, feed, and farm supplies. Maintain accurate records of breeding, production outcomes, animal treatments, and farm management activities. Monitor market conditions and contribute to production planning based on demand and seasonal requirements. Oversee data collection and support the use of farm technology systems to improve productivity and efficiency. Budgeting, cost tracking, and general farm business operations as required. Skills & Experience Qualification: Certificate-level qualification in agriculture, livestock, or related discipline, or equivalent industry experience. Experience: Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in pig farming, livestock production, or similar farm management roles. Strong knowledge of pig production systems, breeding cycles, farrowing management, and animal welfare standards. Experience implementing feeding programs, animal health protocols, and biosecurity measures. Strong record-keeping skills and the ability to follow standard operating procedures. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a physically demanding farm environment. Good communication skills and commitment to workplace safety. Annual Salary $110,000 – $120,000 per annum plus superannuation , commensurate with skills and experience.
