We are looking for a talented Senior Legal Counsel to become the primary legal partner for our innovative Specialist Business Units, with a strong focus on our rapidly growing Customer Assets business, including the development and deployment of community batteries. About This Role In this role, you’ll operate with a high degree of autonomy, providing strategic legal guidance on complex commercial arrangements while helping to build the legal foundations of one of the most exciting areas of the energy transition. Serve as the primary legal contact for the Specialist Business Units, working closely with the Customer Assets team (community batteries). Independently draft, review, and negotiate offtake agreements and a variety of contracts supporting the development and rollout of community batteries. Take ownership of legal matters end-to-end—prioritising, progressing, and escalating issues where appropriate, while ensuring stakeholders are well-briefed throughout. Build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships across the business. Draft and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, including partner, referral, channel, and procurement agreements, supporting both Specialist Business Units and other business areas as required. Support the resolution of commercial disputes as they arise. Provide regulatory advice relating to offtake agreements and associated retail products. Review and advise on marketing materials and collateral produced by the Specialist Business Units. Assist with the strategic allocation and management of work between internal teams and external counsel to ensure cost-effective, consistent legal support. Drive continuous improvement within the Legal & Governance function by developing tools such as precedents, adopting new technologies, and simplifying processes to reduce cost and complexity. Design and deliver training to business stakeholders to help build capability and reduce reliance on Legal for routine or lower-risk matters. How can you be part of the Clean Energy Transition Degree in Law and a current practising certificate in Victoria. 8years post qualification experience in a reputable Australian law firm or in-house. Experience giving advice in some of the following areas: off-take agreements, drafting contracts and customer facing terms and conditions, marketing & sales, privacy, competition & consumer law, brand & IP, regulatory compliance matters and strategic initiatives Experience in roles interpreting and distilling complex information to multiple stakeholders.
