The key duties of the position include The Role The Office of Head Joint Aviation Systems Division (JASD) is seeking a proactive, self-motivated APS 6 Business and Governance Officer to support divisional business operations, governance frameworks, and information management functions. This trusted and high profile role provides strategic and operational advice to senior executives, divisional staff, and external stakeholders. You will work closely with the El 1 Business Operations Manager to deliver multifaceted governance oversight, corporate compliance, business process improvement, and information management activities. The role requires strong judgement, initiative, and the ability to interpret and apply policy and legislative frameworks while identifying risks and opportunities for improvement. This position plays a key role in supporting the Division Head and Chief of Staff, contributing to divisional performance, governance assurance, and the effective functioning of business operations. You will operate with autonomy and accountability across a broad suite of functions including governance reporting, risk and security management, WHS compliance, financial and resource management processes, and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) implementation. Within the framework of Defence policy, the APS 6 Business and Governance Officer will: Support the development, implementation and maintenance of divisional governance frameworks, including plans, standard operating procedures, business rules, templates and guidelines to ensure alignment with Defence and whole of government requirements. Support business operations across the Division, including risk and security management, WHS compliance, ERP implementation activities, accommodation and resource management, financial processes, information and records management, and corporate performance reporting. Coordinate, monitor and report on governance compliance, analysing trends, identifying emerging risks, and proposing opportunities for continuous improvement to strengthen divisional governance and assurance functions. Build and maintain productive working relationships with subject matter experts and stakeholders to develop divisional advice on governance, information management, risk, and compliance related matters. Work collaboratively with Divisional stakeholders to respond to complex governance matters in accordance with relevant policy and procedures. This may involve interpreting legislative, regulatory and policy requirements, assessing impacts, and recommending appropriate courses of action to support divisional objectives. About our Team JASD partners with Defence and industry to acquire and sustain helicopters, uncrewed aerial systems, and aircrew training systems for the Australian Defence Force. The Office of Head JASD supports the Division Head through leadership of core business and governance functions including governance and assurance, business management and corporate performance, capability delivery reporting, ministerial and parliamentary coordination, workforce planning and management, risk management, media coordination, security integration within broader governance frameworks.
