The Department of Health, Disability and Ageing is seeking an experienced SES Band 1 leader to head its People Branch. This senior HR specialist role will provide strategic direction and drive initiatives that strengthen workforce capability to enable the department to deliver its priorities. As the Assistant Secretary of People Branch , you will provide strategic HR leadership that supports APS reform priorities and the APSC's workforce initiatives. This includes shaping policies and programs that enhance organisational capability, workforce planning, and employee experience in line with the APS Workforce Strategy. You will develop and implement practical, evidence-based HR strategies, informed by data and departmental context, to position the department for success now and in the future. You will also have responsibility for a range of operational and compliance functions including recruitment, Work Health and Safety (WHS), and ensuring effective people management across the department, including compliance with legislative requirements and adherence to the APS Values and Code of Conduct.
