Newcastle | Hybrid Working | 12-Month Fixed Term Contract ASR Recruitment is partnering with a large, complex organisation to appoint a technically strong Payroll Officer to join an established payroll function. This is not a junior payroll position. We are seeking an experienced payroll professional who understands legislative compliance, superannuation frameworks, reconciliation integrity and structured HRIS environments. The Opportunity Reporting to the Senior Manager, you will play a key role in delivering accurate and compliant fortnightly payroll across a sizeable workforce. You will operate within a highly systemised environment where attention to detail, audit awareness and award interpretation capability are essential. This role will suit someone confident managing complexity, identifying discrepancies and taking ownership of payroll accuracy. What You Bring • 4 years’ experience in end-to-end payroll within a medium to large organisation • Strong working knowledge of superannuation, salary packaging and overpayment processes • Demonstrated experience in a complex HRIS/payroll system environment • Confident interpretation of Awards, Agreements and relevant legislation • Strong reconciliation capability and comfort working with payroll data • High-level Excel skills • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative payroll team • Proven track record operating within strict processing deadlines Key Responsibilities • Accurate and timely fortnightly payroll processing • Superannuation deductions and compliance management • Payroll reporting, checking processes and reconciliations • Managing payroll adjustments, variations and overpayment registers • Responding to employee remuneration enquiries with professionalism • Supporting audit requirements and compliance reviews • Participating in payroll system upgrades and testing activities What’s On Offer • 12-month fixed term contract • Hybrid working model • Exposure to a large, structured and well-resourced payroll environment • Opportunity to contribute to system and process improvement initiatives • Supportive leadership and high-performing team If you are a confident Payroll Officer who thrives in structured, compliance-driven environments and enjoys working with complexity, we would welcome your application.
