Job Description YOUR ROLE The Senior Azure Cloud Engineer is responsible for ensuring that the IT infrastructure and services supporting MACS and VCEA’s online platforms operate securely, efficiently and in compliance with disaster recovery requirements. This role will also contribute to projects that deliver new or enhanced IT services for MACS and VCEA. The Senior Azure Cloud Engineer will develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of MACS systems and infrastructure, whilst contributing to the continuous improvement of service delivery. This role would suit someone with strong cloud experience, a problem-solving mindset, and the ability to guide best practice across teams. Desired Skills and Experience WHAT YOU WILL DO Lead the design and deployment of Azure landing zones to support enterprise-scale adoption to design, build, and maintain secure and scalable Azure cloud environments Build Infrastructure as Code with Terraform, embedding automation and best practice into every layer for repeatable consistent deployments. Implement and manage key Azure services across Networking, Security, Identity, Compute, and Storage. Key knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration, including SharePoint Online, Purview, Exchange Online, Teams, OneDrive, and Intune endpoint management. Provide strong experience at an enterprise level and the Microsoft 365 Modern Workplace suite of solutions Leading the implementation of Azure Landing Zones in alignment with best practices Driving Infrastructure as Code (IaC) adoption using Terraform and contributing to automation, optimisation, and governance initiatives across the cloud platform ABOUT YOU Demonstrated expertise in Landing Zone implementation and cloud foundations at an Enterprise level. Hands-on experience with Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and automation Solid understanding of RBAC and identity/access governance in Azure Broad knowledge of Azure services (networking, compute, security, monitoring) Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to influence cloud best practices across teams Demonstrated experience in designing, implementing, and managing complex Azure-based network infrastructure, with a deep understanding of Azure networking protocols, security measures, and advanced troubleshooting techniques. Ability to estimate Azure usage costs and implement operational cost control mechanisms to ensure cost-effective infrastructure management. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, collaborate effectively with IT teams, provide clear guidance to team members, and engage with stakeholders across schools and head office to support technology adoption and manage change effectively.
