The key duties of the position include The Role Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance (GWEO) Group is central to delivering the priorities outlined in the 2024 National Defence Strategy and Integrated Investment Program. This role supports Australia's strategic objective to enhance self-reliance through domestic production, maintenance, and sustainment of guided weapons and munitions - one of Defence's seven Sovereign Defence Industrial Priorities. As an APS 6 Contracting Officer, you will assist in the management of GWEO's Major Service Provider (MSP) contract that underpins the Australian GWEO Plan, ensuring compliance with Commonwealth Procurement Rules and value-for-money outcomes. You will work closely with MSP industry partners and subject matter experts to establish and maintain contractual frameworks that enable GWEO to manufacture, repair, and overhaul select weapons systems. The position requires strong stakeholder engagement skills, attention to detail, and the ability to navigate commercial and regulatory environments to support the development of a resilient sovereign GWEO industrial base. Note: This position will be required to access US export controlled materiel and therefore applicants will be requested to disclose any dual citizenship with another country during the recruitment process. Dual citizens may be subject to further assessment and appointment to this position will be conditional upon approval to access US controlled export material in accordance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP).
