The Invasive Animals and Overabundant Wildlife team is responsible for supporting and delivering key programs designed to mitigate the impact of vertebrate pests and overabundant wildlife within ACT Parks and Reserves and on some public lands. The team work collaboratively across Government and with rural landholders to deliver an integrated and nil tenure approach. We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced applicant to fill the position of Pest Animal Officer. As a Pest Animal Officer, you will be responsible for: Providing technical advice and operational support to ACT government staff and rural landholders in the implementation of vertebrate pest and overabundant wildlife management programs. Assisting with the co-ordination and delivery of vertebrate pest and overabundant wildlife management programs. Implementing vertebrate pest monitoring and mapping programs and maintain accurate program records. Maintaining facilities and equipment associated with management programs, handle, use and issue restricted chemicals. Undertaking community engagement activities and liaise with other government agencies, rural landholders and other stakeholders. Supervision of staff and contractors.
