Description About the role We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced DataOps Engineer to join our Data and Insights team in a 24 months Fixed Term Contract. This role will play a pivotal role in for the ongoing administration and improvement of the data platform, ensuring its stability, scalability, and security, building data pipelines for Analytics and Reporting use cases while working collaboratively with Data Modeller, Data Engineers, Data Analysts, SMEs and Solution architects. This role is offered as a 24 months Fixed Term Contract with potential permanency or extensions. Key Responsibilities: Configure CI/CD tool for Azure DataOps Implement operational workflow and orchestration solutions, e.g., job scheduling, file transfer, etc. Implement business continuity solutions, e.g., monitoring, backup, recovery, etc . Work closely with development teams across the data and insights team to understand problems, evaluate patterns and best practices and find opportunities for the team to contribute Embrace Lean principles and work as a part of an Agile team - utilising sprints, epics, experiments, and iterating based on feedback. Manage the Azure data platform operations which includes (ADF, Azure Databricks and Power BI) Drive adoption of our services and tooling through workshops, training and consultation. Seek opportunities to automate our own services and processes, reducing operational toil in an Azure-cloud data platform environment Contribute to IaC and CI/CD, manage deployments across environments, ensure security/PII controls are embedded in pipelines, and drive continuous improvements to reliability, cost and standards. Own design, build, deployment and support of data pipelines, including data quality, performance optimisation, failure handling and automation (not just monitoring and fixes). Actively manage risks and escalate issues where appropriate Proactively identify risks and recommend actions to avoid, mitigate or accept risks. Promote a sound risk culture by routinely analysing, avoiding, mitigating or accepting risks. About you You are the go-to experts in crafting, implementing, and sustaining resilient data processing pipelines. Your role is pivotal in guaranteeing the effectiveness, precision, and scalability of our data infrastructure, impacting not only the Data and Insights team but also extending across the entire organization. Knowledge and Experience: Strong data‑platform skills: confident with SQL, Databricks, ADF, dbt, and Python/PySpark for troubleshooting and supporting daily data operations. DataOps capability: experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git workflows, automated deployments, and operational runbooks. Infrastructure as Code (Terraform): ability to manage and maintain Azure resources using IaC best practices. Azure cloud operations: solid understanding of storage, compute, networking basics, monitoring, and platform‑level troubleshooting. Pipeline reliability & monitoring: skilled in diagnosing failures, optimising performance, and ensuring stable end‑to‑end data workflows. Strong communication and incident‑management skills: able to collaborate across engineering, analytics, and business teams during operational event. Who are we?
